Synthetic fires are commonly used on many garments and normally appear on labels as commonly polyester or nylon.

Other popular specialty synthetic fibers include Rayon (artificial silk) and spandex.

These fibers are obviously not natural and are developed to be more cost effective due to no animal farming or agricultural crop costs. They are also designed to be more stain resistant and more easy to clean.

The disadvantages of synthetic fibers is that they are prone to heat damage which can be caused by using a domestic iron, heat damage caused by hot washing and can easily create static electricity. Synthetic fibers will burn more readily than natural fibers.

Whilst most synthetic fibers may be able to be washed in a domestic washing machine we would not recommend using a domestic iron to finish the garments. Let us take care of the fishing process as we only use steam equipment which will provide a professional finish and can not cause damage to any synthetic fibers.
